How does the OCR Directive affect RCS?
As stated in the school's Mission Statement, Riverview embraces the end result of the Directive: a diverse student body. The Board believes the racial balance of the school would have met the OCR percentages within the first few years of the school being open, the Directive provided resources and sped up the process, which is good for everyone!

PARENT TESTIMONIAL
I'm truly happy to say it's a blessing to finally be a part of the Riverview family. At first I had to tell my son, Jeremy, he was not picked in the lottery, and he said, (at the age of 9) "No more school for me." Then one evening, weeks later we received a phone call and all of Beaufort County could hear him shout for joy. I no longer come home to find a depressed child, not happy with school. Now when I pick him up he’s all smiles and not ready to go home. He is now a child that wishes school was open 24/7. I give my thanks to the nice and caring staff at Riverview. We are proud to be part of this family. ~
Patricia Smalls, mother of Jeremy, 4th Grade
