Into the Local Ecosystem...
Second graders ended the year with an in depth exploration of ECOSYSTEMS! We explored our BIG IDEA: ECOSYSTEMS and their environment are INTERCONNECTED. We had field experiences at the Port Royal Maritime Center, the Port Royal Cypress Wetland Walk, and Camp St. Christopher Barrier island Eco-Camp for our 2 night CAPSTONE experience. Students were immersed in the local ecosystem in order to gain understanding and appreciation for our interconnected local world. Our class alone raised $181.38 (counted by the students themselves) through our Spring service learning project, PENNIES FOR POETRY. All funds raised go to BORN TO READ, a local non-profit that provides books for ALL newborns in Beaufort County. Thank you for your wonderful support this year. It has been an honor and a privilege to partner with you in your child's education.
