In Kindergarten Social Emotional Learning, we have moved from learning about school routines to getting along with others. Kindergartners have learned about the difference between small and large problems, when to get help from an adult, when to problem solve on their own, and are now learning about how using manners helps smooth out so many problems in a classroom. We watched a video called "Clifford's Manner" and discussed ways we could use our manners in school.
In 8th grade, kids who showed good testing skills on SC Ready and MAP got to try their hand at the PSAT, a test most kids take in the 10th grade. Our next focus in 8th grade will be on learning about selves in the world of work. Students will begin thinking about careers they are interested in, which will culminate with a Job Shadowing Day in May.
Sixth graders have been discussing what the challenges are in transitioning to being middle schoolers...homework, grades, time management, gossip, and more! This is a time of such intense change, physically, mentally, and emotionally. It's no wonder that 6th graders have big mood swings and are more forgetful than they used to be!
Stay tuned for updates on 5th and 7th grades!
