During Writer’s Workshop, we have spent a great deal of time talking about why writers write (to teach or to entertain) and what we should include in our writing pieces. We have discussed that writers choose topics that they know something about. We have created a rubric that we use as a guideline to determine when a writing piece can be “done”. As a class we decided that a writing must have include detailed picture (with or without color), one specific topic, and labels or words.
Disclaimer: When you do something together as a family whether it be fun, happy, exciting, scary, or even sad, please encourage your child to write about it at school. This will allow them to becomes authors!

Our Gratitude Turkey
Thank you so much for the feathers that you decorated, wrote on and sent in. We LOVED looking at each one and discussing what was on it. We put all of our feathers together to make this beautiful turkey. We love how unique and special each feather is. Thank you so much for taking the time to complete these feathers at home to support our classroom learning and excitement! Please stop by and see our turkey in the Kindergarten lobby if you are able.
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our Riverview Thanksgiving Lunch! We get really excited to have you join us at school. Thank you for making our day so special!
