100th Day of School!
The 100th Day of school was so much fun! We began our day by reading some fun 100th day books and in the afternoon, we set up our museum! Our projects were wonderful and the whole school (or almost) came to visit our 100th Day of School Museum! Your children were SO proud of their work and everyone was very impressed with the creativity of the projects. Thank you for your help and support with this project!
We had so much fun exchanging Valentines!
As we have been learning about jobs in the community, we read and talked about all of YOUR jobs. Thank you so much for sharing them with us! The kids LOVED that the learning is so personal and seeing a glimpse of the millions of jobs available to them. We were also lucky enough to have several of the firefighters from the Beaufort County Fire Department come in to our school to teach us about their job and why they are important to the community! They also taught us about fire safety and even showed us their fire truck! After learning about all of the amazing jobs that are out there in our community, we had CAREER DAY!!! Below are pictures of our students dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up!
We also had a field trip to get out and SEE our city community first hand! Below are pictures from our Beaufort Community Field Trip!
We've also been learning about some important people in our country community! The students each chose someone who was an important historical figure, wrote some facts about that person, and drew their picture! Can you guess who they chose?!
Kindergarten math is about learning new skills and concepts and also about becoming a problem solver and "thinker". We continued to spend time these last few weeks on addition skills. The students are learning a variety of strategies to use when solving math problems. Our favorite one is drawing pictures ... because it almost always works! Whether we are working on a story problem, an addition sentence, or something different - drawing out what the problem is asking is a great strategy to use! We have also learned how to draw circles when we are adding to help us have accurate answers. We have also learned that we can use our fingers, use manipulatives, use +1(one more) or +0 rule, and count up. Which strategy does your child use? Are they able to use different strategies in different situations?
